Opening Hours of the Piha Library:

• Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays   .    .10am until 1pm
• Saturdays   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .    .   10am until 2pm

  Thursday afterschool session - 3.30pm to 5.30pm - during the school term.
• These sessions have been very successful and will be continued through winter. We would like to encourage all families with school-aged children to make use of this session, and welcome any ideas and feedback on how it could be developed in the future to meet the needs of local families. Everyone is welcome. We especially hope to provide families with school-aged children to access the Piha Community Library collection and learning resources.

Borrowing Books:

1. Adults may take up to 4 fiction (Juniors 6) and 4 non-fiction (Juniors 6) items at any one time and up to 6 DVDs.

   Books are issued for a four week period and DVDs for a week.  Fines for overdue items are charged at 20c per day per item and no new issues will be made until outstanding fines are paid. 

Range of books available:  The  Piha Library offers a range of items to suit all ages contained in five sections:

• Adult Section: Contains fiction,  non-fiction, magazines and information material.
• Young Adult (YA) Section: Works of fiction more suitable for the 12-16 year age group.
• Junior (J) Section: Works of fiction and non fiction approximately 6 - 12 year age group.  Also a range of early readers books.
• Picture Books: Books more suitable for the 0 - 6 years age
• Section (J + Red Spot):  Kept in the bins in the children's area.
• DVD Section: Range for all ages beside children's area.

Book Reserves: If an item you wish to borrow is already on loan you can request the library assistant to reserve it for you.

Book Catalogue: Our catalogue is available for assistance if you are seeking information on library stock.  The librarian on duty will assist you.

DVD Hire: We have a range of good quality DVDs for all ages.  Loans are for one week at a time and cost between $3 and $5  each.  See conditions of DVD hire below.

Overdue Items:  All overdue books will be subject to a fine of 20c per day and lost itemss may mean a charge for replacement costs.

Change of Member Details: To enable us to keep records up to date, please let us know of address, phone number or email changes.   Please ensure that a land line number is given wherever possible rather than  mobile phone numbers.

Conditions of DVD Hire:

1. Only registered members are eligible to hire DVDs.
2. Rates of hire are $3 or $5 per single DVD (depending on  classification).
3. All hireages are for up to 1 week.
4. Replacement costs may be charged for DVDs lost or  damaged.     
5. Children (under 13 years) will be issued with G rated videos only.
