The Piha Community Library Trust is seeking an experienced and community minded person to help in the administration of the library. The library is a small rural library serving a population of about 2,000-3,000 people from the Piha, Anawhata, and Karekare areas. It is open approximately 13 hours a week.
The contract for the Administrator is reviewed annually, and is currently offered for seven hours per week. The key tasks are overseeing and supporting the volunteers, cataloguing the stock, and general administration of the library to ensure its smooth running. Particular emphasis will be on understanding the essential involvement of the library in the life of the community it serves through helping in the planning, customer service and establishing the library as a place with partnership building within the community.
The appropriate qualifications and experience are: having managed and worked with volunteers; sound communication skills; computer skills (particularly with a Mac); good administration and time management skills; some experience working in libraries would be an advantage. Having a commitment and involvement in the local community is particularly important.
