Volunteers Noticeboard

This Month We Need Help With:

Working Bee

Sunday June 29th at 10 am

It's that time of year again! The windows need cleaning, the deck needs scrubbing, lightbulbs need replacing! So on Sunday June 29th at 10am we'll be holding our annual working bee. It would be wonderful to have you there. If you can help in anyway please email us to let us know.

Thursday Afternoon Volunteer Librarian Needed

We are open on Thursday afternoons from 3.30-5.30.  These sessions are generally fun and busy, with children coming from the nearby schools, and locals dropping in after work for a book or DVD.

We currently only have one Librarian who is able to help out on Thursday afternoons, so we are looking to see if we can find another lovely local to help us out for one or two afternoons a month.

An ideal volunteer would have good computer skills, a familiarity with the library, and the ability to work well under pressure.

If you can help please email us to let us know.

Book Preparation Team

We need someone to help out our book preparation team making sure all our books are well protected before they reach the shelves for you to take home.  This team meets fortnightly after library opening hours.  Our afternoon's work is always lots of fun.  Can you help?  We'd love to hear from you.

Kids Activities

We are looking for someone to run an activity for kids during the July School Holidays.  We are applying for funding so in the future this may be something we could pay you to do, however at present we have only a very small budget for materials.  Do you have any ideas?

Please email us if you can help in any way.

Volunteering at the Piha Community Library

Our Library could not exist without the volunteer work done by members of this community.

Much of the work that is done behind the scenes, such as book buying, DVD buying, book and DVD preparation, fundraising, organising events etc. is done on a voluntary basis.

The friendly faces you see behind the counter at the library are all members of our community who generously give their time to open the doors of the library 4 days a week.

We always appreciate offers of help.
